I returned to Paris early this morning after ten days of travelling in Sri Lanka, swapping a tropical climate and kaleidoscopic colours for crisp winds and grey rooftops. Unpacking my treasured souvenirs and island memories, I was admittedly feeling the blues in an apartment that seemed a little more gloomy than I had left it– until I came across this charming cover art for an imaginary magazine, The Parisianer.
Inspired by the unmistakable New Yorker magazine, more than 100 artists were invited to submit their artworks for a three-day exhibition held by the Cité internationale des Arts this weekend, framing Paris in that elegant style of the iconic American magazine. Dreamt up by design collective, Lettre P, the project has also raised enough funding to turn the entire collection into a stunning art book, available to pre-order here (available in stores in 2014).
I’m now sat snuggly by the window with our souvenirs brightening up the walls, remembering that, en tout cas, it ain’t bad to be home and it’s certainly pretty special to be a Parisianer…
