This video you’re about to see was filmed on one the most luxurious shopping streets of Madrid and shows a well-dressed respectable woman who passes in front of a Chanel boutique and sees something she wants, but can’t afford. She begins to have an anxiety attack and eventually resorts to begging for what she wants using a piece of cardboard with the words “I beg for Chanel” written in lipstick. She begins to cry and pleads with pedestrians to take pity on her and buy her the Chanel item she wants.
The clip was made by artist Yolanda Dominguez and the woman begging is an actress. The aim was to poke fun at an unhealthy addiction to shopping. It’s a funny one because it’s not too far from the truth; I can’t say I haven’t known some girls myself who have become absolutely obsessed with owning a Chanel bag and going to great lengths to get it. This video brings a little humor to the absurdity…
