So, there’s planning a party and then there’s planning a party in a secret abandoned location– in Paris! You’re about to delve into the world of the most unique underground party organisers in the world…
A secretive group called We are the Oracle has surfaced in the French capital in recent years, throwing once in a lifetime soirées for Parisians looking to party somewhere a little more off the grid. The event organisers, or as they might prefer to call themselves, “les conspirateurs“, have a knack for pinning down the most impossible locations you could imagine to host an extravagant shindig.
Remember the rotting Rothschild mansion in Paris we poked around a little while back? The one that’s been abandoned since World War II by the greatest European banking dynasty ever established? Yeah, they threw a party there. No biggie.
Here’s how to get invited.
Step 1: Join the Oracle’s secret society (sign up to their newsletter)– which may or may not see you ushered out of an underground banquet by the cops one day. It’s not exactly clear how “legal” these evanescent events are, but the ‘conspirateurs’ are sure as heck not about to reveal their secret formula.
Step 2: Wait for the newsletter to arrive in your inbox detailing the next event. The number of places usually varies from one hundred to two hundred and it works on a first come first served basis. So you have to move quick once they send the word out.
Step 3: The secret location won’t be revealed until the day of. Show up in the right gear for the evening’s theme and prepare for a night to remember.

“The Urban Tribe Dinner” on the Petite Ceinture, another one we’ve explored (the Paris inner city railway abandoned since 1934).
“The Hidden Temple Dinner” – (I’m going to have to go digging for this one)
“The Haunted School Dinner” in an abandoned Parisian school… oooh!
“The Last Dinner of the Bridge Keepers”– a banquet underneath the Pont Alexandre III before the mayor of Paris closed the riverbanks for renovations that were completed this summer. A new nightclub will soon be opening in the empty art squat where the banquet took place.
Most recently, We Are the Oracle hosted a secret abandoned rooftop party on Bastille Day, with front row seats for the fireworks. The “Rooftop Project” took place on top of an old hospital, a few streets from the Eiffel Tower.
For their next party, We are the Oracle are keeping it secretive as usual. They’re calling it “the Underwater Party”, to take place on the 26th August inside a swimming pool, emptied of its 900,000 litres of water.
