Not Chernobyl. Not a sunken cruise ship at the bottom of the ocean. In that order, those were my guesses as to what exactly I was looking at when I first squinted my eyes at these photographs.
If you haven’t guessed yourself yet, this just about combines two of the most fascinating things to me; miniature art and the depiction of post-apocalyptic world.
Nick Cobb is an artist who is ironically used to working with over-sized abstract canvases but went to the other extreme when he created this 8ft x 4ft model of a post-apocalyptic South London– a multi-storey car park in Peckham to be exact.
It took him several months to create the miniature diorama, with the interiors being the most painstaking.
The cherry blossom trees in the midst of his shrunken post-apocalyptic world, he says, show his optimistic side.
Take a closer looks at Nick Cobb’s work here.
