You may or may not be aware that I’m coming out with a book in July 2017, an atypical guide book about Paris, the city where I’ve been writing this blog to you for the past seven years. It’s currently in the design stage, specifically, the cover design stage, and I’ve found myself burrowing through Pinterest for inspiration like I’m digging for the answer to life itself. While I’m aiming for a timeless design, I’ve been been helplessly drawn like a moth to a flame to the most incredible vintage book covers, and boy– they just don’t make ’em like they used to. I’d like to share a few of the most exceptional, ranging from the late 1800s to the 1930s. I would have carefully labelled each one with exact dates, artists, editions, publishers etc, but I was admittedly slightly overwhelmed with the final proofing of my own book today. Think of this as a peek at my ideal mood board (if my publisher gave me unlimited discretionary power to act on impulse). I might just have to leave you to do some internetting of your own if you wish to know more about a certain design you see. You can browse where I was browsing here on Pinterest.
