Similar to the flea market in Paris, it’s most active from Friday to Sunday and split up into various markets and can be a little overwhelming to know where all the good spots are, so put these into your GPS:
- Le Village des Antiquaires de la Gare
- Quai de la Gare
- L’île aux brocantes
- Hotel Dongier Antiques.
- On weekends, dealers set up in the gardens of Gautier Municipal Park.
Eating & drinking:
For a special lunch/ dinner, eat at Le Jardin du Quai. They also have a more casual sister restaurant next door, also outside called the Atelier.
The al fresco terrace of Le Vivier really lets the town live up to its “Venice of Provence” name. Le Bistrot de Coco is also on the canal, right in one of the markets, but a little more casual.
Solelh is a great neo bistrot.
I like to get my breakfast on the market square (Place de Liberté) at the old Café de France.
Where to stay:
You might want to consider staying outside of town in a smaller village nearby, or the Provence region has some beautiful countryside homes. Check out our page on the nearby villages of the Luberon. I’ve got a South of France rental wish list too for Keyholders: Have a look here. Also a few options for smaller rentals in the town of Uzes here and I’ve got lots of tips for my favourite area of Provence in our eGuide by the way.
If you want to stay in town in a hotel, I’d recommend La Maison sur la Sorgue.
